hello everyone , this is NRG back after a long time with a cool new text effect that's sure to blow ur mind .
yesterday i was thinking of making a new cover pic for my facebook profile page , so i opened up photoshop and started experimenting with different fonts and layer styles , and the above picture is what i created .

the font is called " pricedown " and it is the same font used in the covers of all Grand Theft Auto games ! I love that series too much ! and the font is epic , too ! u can download it , and some other fun stuff from here :-

okay , so now that u have the font , u need a nice metal texture . i used the one called metal texture 7 , courtesy of wojtar stock . it is available for free , here :-

click on download , then they'll show u the full version . right click on it and click on " save image ".
okay now i'm gonna teach u how to convert this image into a pattern , so u can use it in ur image .
follow these steps :-
1. open photoshop , and open the image u downloaded , i.e , the texture image .
2. go to edit -> define pattern . keep the name as whatever u want , and click ok .
so now our pattern is made . now let me show u how to create the background which i used .
step-by-step :-
1. create a new image , i used the size 801 x 285 px .
2. fill the background with black , and create a new layer (ctrl+shift+n) . make sure to bring up the layers window by pressing F7 or by going to window -> layers. fill the new layer with black
3. make sure that u have white and black as ur foreground and background colors , and go to filter ->
render -> fibers . use any strength and variance value , it doesnt really matter .
4. go to filter -> blur -> motion blur . set the angle as 90 degrees , and distance to whatever suits u . i used 268 px .
5. go to layer -> layer style -> gradient overlay . use the settings as follows :-
blend mode = overlay
opacity = 100%
gradient = transparent rainbow (the second-last one in the list)
style = linear
angle = 0 degrees
scale = anything between 120% and 130%
6. go to layer -> layer style -> color overlay . settings as follows :-
blend mode = soft light
color = black
opacity = less than 50%
so now our background is ready . now for the text . step-by-step , as always :-
1. create a new layer , and write ur name or whatever u want with the pricedown font . i used the font size as 60 , u can use whatever u want . play with uppercase and lowercase to learn what they do !
2. set the layer styles as follows :-
drop shadow :-
bevel and emboss :-
color overlay :-
pattern overlay :-
(pattern = the one u downloaded)
stroke :-
the stroke should give u "aero-glass" type effect . i created this one while experimenting yesterday .
to increase the size of the aero-glass effect , increase the size of the stroke , as well as the distance of the drop shadow .
so now u should have the effect i was trying to teach u .
